There is never a bad time to document life and love, and I’m so excited for you to have some beautiful new photos together. Hopefully, you’re as excited about your photography session as I am, but I completely understand if you’ve suddenly become a little bit stressed about what to wear. After all, it’s not every day you get professional portraits taken and you want to make the most of it! To help you out, I’ve put together this guide detailing What to Wear for Your Arizona Couples Portrait Session.

Regardless of where you are in the world though, this guide definitely contains some handy tips for planning what to wear for a portrait session, for any season, so keep reading!
WHAT TO WEAR FOR YOUR ARIZONA COUPLES PORTRAIT SESSION
What to Wear for your Arizona Couples Portrait Session: Comfort is King
There are no rules when it comes to choosing What to Wear for your Arizona Couples Portrait Session. However, if I had to make one rule, it would be to make sure you’re comfortable in whatever it is you choose to wear. If you feel amazing in your outfit, and you can move freely, that confidence will shine through in your photos. I understand the temptation to buy new shoes or to wear a brand-new item of clothing for your portrait session – you want to look your best! There’s nothing wrong with that, but make sure they’re comfortable. There’s nothing worse than hobbling around with blistered feet thanks to new shoes when you’re supposed to be having a wonderful time.
Mix it Up: Bring Multiple Outfits
Okay, so maybe not multiple outfits, but at least two – one formal, one casual. Half of the stress when choosing What to Wear for your Arizona Couples Portrait Session is usually whether to go casual or formal. By bringing two outfits, you can show off two of your favorite looks during your shoot. Your two different outfits could also lend themselves to different poses, especially for the women reading this. If you wear a short dress for one of your outfits, consider bringing a long dress or pants for the other so that we can do cute piggyback rides and other things that might be difficult in a short dress.
And don’t worry about where to change! I’ve got a nifty changing tent that I bring along to all my shoots, so that you can swap outfits in total privacy.
Arizona Couples Photography sessions: Consider the Season
Arizona summers are famous for being hot and dry, so you might be imagining flowy dresses, light linen pants or cute denim cutoffs. Don’t forget though that, while our winters do tend to be milder, we still get snow, so it pays to consider the season! There’s no reason why you can’t wear a beautiful flowy dress for a winter shoot, just be sure to bring a heavy jacket to warm up between shots or while we move between locations. You could also consider bringing a beautiful blanket to snuggle up in together during the shoot. In case you schedule your shoot for the summer months, and we’re shooting near a lake or a river, come prepared! Bring your swimsuit along so you can jump in at the end of the session and we can get some fun water shots.
What to Wear for your Arizona Couples Portrait Session: Colors & Patterns
When it comes to choosing what colors or patterns to wear for your Arizona Couples Photography session, I’d advise you to wear neutral colors, to keep any busy patterns to a minimum, and to avoid obvious logos. This isn’t because I’m not a fan of color, but solid, neutral colors lend the photos to being timeless. More importantly, it keeps the focus on the two of you and your love instead of any distracting patterns or logos. That said, the most important thing is that you feel like yourself and love what you’re wearing, so if you’re a fan of colored clothes, by all means, wear your favorite colors. Just in case, my particular editing style works well with yellows, blues, pinks and greens.
