Classic Farmhouse Wedding at The Pavilion at Orchard Ridge Farms / Elizabeth & Joe

Groom lifts bride into the air during classic wedding at Orchard Ridge Farms

Have you ever heard the phrase “When you know, you know.”? Well, that’s exactly how Elizabeth and Joe’s love story played out. After dating for a few months, these two tied the knot during a gorgeous classic wedding at The Pavilion at Orchard Ridge Farms. Keep scrolling to see some of my favorite details from the day (including Elizabeth’s stunning and unique wedding dress).

Elizabeth and Joe’s Love Story and Proposal

Some love stories play out over the course of a few years, while others play out over the span of a few months. For Elizabeth and Joe, their love story was the latter. The couple met at an acting conservatory where they were both students and they dated for eight months before Joe popped the question - on Elizabeth’s birthday no less!

The couple had gone out to dinner and Joe had planned to propose, but the setting wasn’t right, so he had to put his acting skills to good use and improvised. Knowing something was up, Elizabeth went along with it. Joe soon found the right moment and asked Elizabeth to marry him, right in front of the couple’s favorite ice cream shop as it lightly snowed! Talk about meaningful moments!

A Classic Farmhouse Wedding at Orchard Ridge Farms

As an Arizona wedding photographer, I always love getting to travel to other locations to photograph weddings. Elizabeth and Joe’s special day took place at the beautiful Pavilion at Orchard Ridge Farms. Located in Rockton, Illinois, this luxury wedding venue features an incredible farmhouse with plenty of space for getting ready and multiple locations around the property that are perfect for an outdoor wedding ceremony.

After getting ready in separate suites, the couple shared a first look under a large tree on the property. Elizabeth's dress was one of my favorites I have ever photographed because of the ombré pink train. I love when couples incorporate special or non-traditional details into their day and this pink and white wedding dress was definitely one of those fun details!

Once we finished the first look and took a few couple portraits, we got their wedding party together and took group photos further out in the property. It was during these moments, that we experienced one of the day’s more memorable moments. As Elizabeth was taking a photo with one of her bridesmaids, a bug landed on her dress. The bridesmaid flicked it off, but it left a stream of blood right across the front of Elizabeth’s dress…right before the ceremony! Luckily, Sarah their wedding planner from Cheers Chicago got some seltzer water and it came right out, but not before I captured a photo of everyone’s stunned faces!

With that crisis averted, it was time for Elizabeth and Joe’s wedding ceremony. They had chosen a location on an island in the middle of the venue’s pond. This ceremony location, while trickier to photograph, ended up making for a gorgeous setting for them to say ‘I Do’ not to mention some beautiful wedding photos.

Since Elizabeth and Joe are both actors, they also have experience dancing. After their ceremony Elizabeth changed into a second wedding dress and the couple wore tap shoes and shared a choreographed first dance to a custom mix they had created. It was the cutest thing ever and added so much meaning and personalization to their classic wedding!

After they finished their first dances, the three of us snuck away for more couple photos to take advantage of Elizabeth’s outfit change and photograph both of her gorgeous dresses!

This full-day classic wedding in Illinois was such a dream to photograph! I absolutely loved all the details Elizabeth and Joe included in their day and all the fun moments shared. Congratulations, you two on your beautiful day!
