Prescott, Arizona // Mother's Day Thoughts
All of the incredible mothers I have worked with in the last year. I could never properly portray the love between a mother and their child, but I feel truly blessed to be able to capture even a fraction of that love.
The weddings I have captured in Flagstaff, Phoenix, Prescott and beyond let me capture mothers on an incredibly emotional day in their lives. The day that they watch their baby get married. There are so many tears and so much beautiful emotion. The moment when a mother zips up her daughter’s wedding dress or dances with her son at his wedding reception. It is always a moment that brings tears and love. And yes, I might shed a few tears as I capture it as well.
Family photos bring out the genuine spirit of a mother. Getting a little annoyed when their little one won’t behave but still smiling because they love their child’s spirit. Holding their hand and guiding them to the right location for the next shot. Fixing their hair or clothing to make sure they look as adorable as ever. Smiling and soaking up the love every time I ask them to hug or kiss their child. And yes, sometimes bribing the little one with ice cream if they smile for one last photo. Tucking their babe into their car seat as they prepare for the sleepy ride home and eagerly wait to see the photos.
Maternity photos… the photos of hope and absolute joy. Looking down at the baby inside their womb with the purest love for a child that they haven’t even met yet. Love because the second you become a mother you know that you would do anything for that little babe in your belly. Excitement for the wonderful ways your life is going to change.
Every mother is beautiful in their own incredible way. Whether you are an expecting mother, an empty nesting mother, trying to become a mother, a mom who has lost a child through a tragedy or any other way, a step mother, a foster mom, unable to be a mom, mothers who have postpartum or that are struggling. Mothers come in all forms and every single one of you is special and loved. Today is for you. Thank you 💕
