Jill & Matt’s beautiful, relaxed Phoenix Maternity Portraits at Home and Papago Park Photography was truly special to be part of. If you’re wondering how to put your own spin on Maternity Portraits, or if you should even have Maternity Portraits, then this post is for you!

There is nothing not to love about being a wedding and portrait photographer – being welcomed into your homes and your life’s most important days is an absolute privilege. Perhaps one of the things I love most though is the chance to build a relationship with my clients. Getting a call to let me know one of you proposed after doing a portrait session just because. Receiving an unexpected email a few years after your wedding because there’s a new baby on the way!

PHOENIX MATERNITY PORTRAITS

Should you get Maternity Portraits?

If you’ve read many of my blog posts, or follow my Instagram, you’ll know I’m a big believer in photographing beautiful moments just because. No special occasion needed! But what about when those big life moments do arrive? Of course, I believe in photographing those, too! There is nothing quite so special as looking back through old photo albums, remembering days gone by. Whether it be from your wedding, your engagement, or just your average Tuesday. But can you imagine looking back at those photos with your kids one day? Their astonishment and wonder when they see your round belly and you tell them, ‘that’s you!’.

Asides from just a chance to share an incredible moment with your children in the future, Maternity Portraits are also a wonderful opportunity to pause in the midst of what can be a crazy time. To hit the pause button and focus on yourself, on your partner, and to enjoy this moment together.

Phoenix Maternity Portraits at Home

When Jill & Matt contacted me about their Phoenix Maternity Portraits, this is exactly what they had in mind. A chance to celebrate their love and this heady mix of emotions, as well as to look forward to what the future would hold. It made sense then to start their Maternity Portraits at their home in Phoenix, where their little one’s story began.

Having maternity portraits at home is also a wonderful way to ease into it. If you’re nervous about having photos taken, it can be nice to be in a familiar environment. It was really lovely taking photos of Jill & Matt just doing what they usually do – snuggling on the couch, drinking coffee, and playing with their beautiful dog.

Papago Park Photography: Couples & Maternity

Jill & Matt also wanted to make the most of Arizona’s beautiful scenery and incredible sunset light. So, once we’d finished their Phoenix Maternity Portraits at Home, we headed off for some Papago Park Photography. The red rock and desert scrub made for the most beautiful backdrop as the sun sunk over the horizon. Jill looked so beautiful and at ease, and it was really magical witnessing her & Matt’s anticipation for the arrival of their new sweet babe.

Are you expecting a new baby and considering booking Phoenix Maternity Portraits? I’d love to help you document this incredible time, in a way that suits you and your growing family. Get in touch now for more information or to book it in!
