Papago Park // Phoenix, Arizona // Engagement Session // AJ & Alex

Aj & Alex were available for a last minute sunset session at Papago Park. I had won a mentor session with local photographers, and when our original models canceled unexpectedly, AJ & Alex were eager to fill in for them.

Papago Park is a gorgeous location in Phoenix. It is always crowded with people watching the sun set, yet there is still plenty of space to get photos without anyone in the way. There is also always a place to find shade, thanks to the rocks.  In fact, when the sun gets low enough, these rocks look incredible in the warm light and the grass glows in the most beautiful way.

AJ had said that since it was last minute she wasn’t going to look her best because she was dressed for work…. I can’t imagine what she would look like with time, because she looked amazing! Her teal dress popped perfectly against the red rocks.

AJ and Alex are an ideal couple. They snuggle and giggle and look at each other with admiration. I especially love a couple that is willing to try something when I ask if they’re up for it! They climbed up the rocks, laid down in the dirt, and had tickle fights.

At one point, as Alex was running towards us with AJ in his arms, her wavy hair flowed wildly. I told her that she looked like Buttercup from the Princess Bride.  She was so thrilled and said it was the best compliment ever. It’s so true though! And though she has since cut her hair, it still looks just as amazing!

The one request AJ had was a close up of their eyes side by side. She said that it’s so cool because they have the same eye color! Lucky for their future children, it is an incredibly gorgeous color!

AJ & Alex are another couple that have chosen to have a long engagement. When they finally do tie the knot I know it is going to be the most incredible day and marriage, because they love each other more than anything.
